On October 23rd, JYP Entertainment and the members revealed a new poster which read "R U Ready?" hanging over their company's building with a new version of the Wonder Girls logo now in a chic new black design. Later on, JYPE confirmed that the group's digital music distributors have decided on a release date for the group's second official album to be on November 7th. However, the group will only be promoting in South Korea for a month as they are also preparing for their Asian promotion tour in December. [1] It was also reported that while preparing for their comeback promotions, the group have enlisted some help from some big international figures. [2][3]

Then, Naver Music reported that the group will be releasing teasers leading up to the album's release. The dates of when the teasers will be released were shown.[4] Starting on October 28, the first batch of teaser photos starting on October 28th, the group uploaded some teaser photos onto their official website. [5] The girls are seen in chic black and white all holding antique guns. In the 2nd batch of teaser photos released on October 31, the group carried the theme called, “Red Wonder Girls.” [6] Following the photo teasers, teaser videos for their second album was uploaded on their official Youtube channel on November 1st. The first teaser shows the five with their new, edgy looks, and a set with a tough, rock-style concept, as well as individual shots of each of the members. In just one day, the video received over 560,000 hits and on the morning of November 2, the video reached #1 on the "Most Discussed Video" list. [7] The final video teaser was released on November 3rd. It revealed that the group's title track for the album will be called "Be My Baby". Finally, the second album's name was unveiled on November 4th, and was finally revealed to be "Wonder World" composing of 13 new songs with an exception of two being a remix and an English version of the title track, "Be My Baby". The music video reached 2 million views in after its second day of being released, and has gained over 12 million views as of December 2011.

Concept and artwork

The group has worked with some big international figures for the album's concept. Renowned choreographer Jonté Moaning, who worked with American R&B artist Beyoncé for her song "Freakum Dress" and has served as a back-up dancer for "Single Ladies", helped choreograph the group's music video for "Be My Baby". Designer Johnny Wujek, who was also the fashion stylist for American pop artist Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl" and "California Gurls", also worked alongside the group.[2][3]

Composition

Various members of the group participated in the album's track listing. Yeeun participated as the composer and lyricist for the song "G.N.O," as well as the arrangement and composer for "Me, in". In an interview she commented about the strong American influence that she had received while working on new music in the album as she stated "When I went to a club, I heard songs from Rihanna and LMFAO. We thought it would be nice if we could make club music, done right, in Korean."[8]

Hyerim collaborated with her label-mate rapper San-E for her solo song "Act Cool" where he also helped her write the rap lyrics.[9] Yubin wrote the raps for the songs "Girls Girls," "Me, in," and "Sweet Dreams." Sohee and Yubin recorded a duet together called "SuperB" which allows people to get a feel for the new type of sound that the group have brought.Yeeun and Sunye also had a duet entitled "두고두고" (Du Go Du Go).[8]
